Ditto on Morgan Jones' book..

It's truly excellent. If I can find fault with it, it's only that the writing is a bit pedantic at times and also that he rarely goes back to explain a principle that is covered in an earlier part of the book. So, if you are not knowledgable to begin with (i.e., if you're like me) then you end up having to read it from front to back, in linear order. If you pick up the book and refer to a topic that's covered in the middle or toward the end of the book, you may find the text unintelligible, unless you already understand all the basic principles he puts forth in the first few chapters. Still, it's by far the best text out there for guys like us. You will also note that he thinks a little more "by the book" than do some of the knowledgable folks who post here. It's good to learn from someone like that; then you can make your own decisions to take an unorthodox approach.

Re your circuit: Since knowledgable guys like Naz et al don't find fault with the topology of your cathode connections (or at least haven't mentioned it), I may be off base in my wonderment on that aspect of your schematic.
