Dave, lets say you posted a schematic of your amp that you were especially pleased with and felt sounded particulary good. And lets say your only reason for doing so was to help others copy or make this amp so they too could enjoy it. Now lets say I come along, and without building or hearing your amp, I tell you it sucks and is compromised and nowhere near as good as it could be because you have not followed my recipe for success, a recipe that flys in the face of convential wisdom. Now where do feel the burden of proof lays? After all, you have built the amp and I have not. Further more, if you were open to trying something different in the hopes it could make your amp even better, do you think I should go as far as to suggest parts and perhaps a schematic or it good enough for me to sit back and simply say that each of your attempts are still not up to meeting my recipe for success and that regardless of what your ears tell you I am undoubtly right in proclaiming it "mid-fi" at best?
Now don't get me wrong. I think Jeff is a good and decent man. I regret that my post was so harsh but I truly felt it needed to be said. I am gratified that I see in posts up above, Jeff offering to set up a conference call to assist another inmate in properly setting up his ideas for a power supply. That was my goal. I take no delight in "whacking" others but if I feel it will help, I will do so and I will take the heat for my actions.
