I my opinion, you first have to find out where the hum is coming from. 200UF seems to be plenty after a choke in any amp but paralleling caps is the way to add. VTL uses major capacitance. Depends on the sound you are seeking but they also use huge power transformers with plenty of current reserve. That is more the key when increasing a power supply. Available current! Most add capacitance to say a Dynaco ST-70 and awear they hear a difference. I've been there, done that and although there was something going on when capacitance was added I doubt it was either good or bad. Again, only my opinion!
