I totally commend the efforts of The Tape Project, face it it’s a labor of love and not money that’s driving it. I'm fortunate that my deck can accommodate the 15ips /EIC requirement that’s necessary for correct playback of these tapes. I may eventually join The Tape Project assuming that they release a number of Classic Jazz or Rock titles. Their required membership pricing of $1200 is steep without knowing the titles to be released. At the individual price of $329 per tape it's off the wall.
Since I really don't think it would be economically feasible to develop a 71/2 2 Track dup concept and price the tapes reasonably neither (say the $50 - $75) range nor do I think that it’s even likely since there are no tape duplication facilities even around anymore. Here is what I do.
I love the sound quality of the 45rpm titles released by Classic and Analogue Productions however changing an LP after 10 minutes or less of playing time is not appealing. I create my own 2 Track 7 1/2 reels. Would a dup of the master sound better probably but these sound really close and all it costs me is a fresh tape (and about $10K in analog equipment)
