take off the front and with the face plate off I can see the motor is at a dead stop. A second layer has to be removed to get at the motors and I was too chicken and afraid I would not get it back together correctly.I took it to a "Classic Equipment Specialist" Sun Valley Repair, they specialize in Vintage equipment including reel to reels.
Gene Tinsley the tech is very nice and he owns the Dorkorder 8140 a 4 channel Quad Reel to Reel and loves the reel to reel format. He also told me he works on Turntables, cassette decks and even 8 Track decks. Plus he says can get any tube I am looking for whither available or not.
Problem he is backed up so it may be a month before it is fixed. Parts are also not a problem as he has most of the parts for all the old machines in stock, if not he can either get NOS or replacement.
He prefers Vintage equipment, as the build quality is so much better.
