Nice to hear of a HK fan - these were the last of the serious decks from HK - the one to aspire to is certainly the 4800, with three heads, dolby S, a fine build and good ergonomics.Using it to record vinyl is the best way to put top analogue recording machinery to work - it preserves the analogue chain... and with the right tape stock (and appropriate turntable, arm and cartridge)will record greater frequency ranges than digital formats, making the "CD Transcription Quality" badge quite believable and in fact, an understatement. Incidently, all models from 4200 upwards had that badge, but for the purpose of stablity and dynamics, was really only applicable with the 4600 and the 4800.
Cheers - Marc
