you just introduced another two connections into the line and this will have a degrading affect on the sound as well, maybe not as much as leaving it hooked up all the time but still not good and you will have a little bit more noise. Another thing you can do is use interconnects that have the twist-tightening/untightening connectors, these will be easy on all conectors male and female. These are the types I have and it actually works better this way because when you disconnect reconnect the RCA interconnects you are actually making a better connection than if it was connect all the time.
