I'm a tape noob who just picked up a Akai gx-4000D reel to reel tape player at a thrift store for a few bucks. It works, but I have no tapes to test it with. Anyway, what kind of sound can I expect from this thing, considering the tapes are in good condition? Could it be better than the same recordings on CD?
The rest of my system consists of a Jolida jd100, anthem pre-1L, classe ca-200, and Thiel 3.5s.thanks for any info,
kevin.
