I liked the engineering design that goes into the Mara heads stack and transport system. I'm sure there was a lot of thought going into the design aspect of it by addressing the cross-talk issue whereby spacing the record and play-back heads apart.
On the other hand, the Revox/Studer's butterfly design maximizes track width, but crosstalk is a bit worse because the tracks are closer together at the center.
