Thanks for your quick response. I too, thought that he might be reffering to the 4 track vs 2 track difference. But I wanted to make sure, since he is the one that is supposed to be the expert. (i defintely feel like a little bit of a sucker for taking my deck to his place for service now. one can only hope that another, more competant technician was actually doing the work.)Everything in the tape path as far as I can see fits the 1/4" tape, including the heads. So, I'll assume that 1/4" tape is fine and assume he meant that its a half track machine. which i was already aware of.
