Well its easy to tell.....just look at the heads...The 2 track head will each be wider with smaller space between tracks. The quarter track version will be thinner showing a larger space between upper & lower tracks. Quarter track spacing to avoid reading tracks going in opposit direction & minimizing cross talk.
