I have a chance to buy a used Tascam DA-45HR from a company. First off when exactly were these decks discontinued? I'm asking because I'm wondering about parts availability- especially the heads. Its it expensive to replace the heads in these decks? Secondly what is the sound quality like with these decks, more so in 24 bit 48 sampling frequency? Im wondering about the A/D D/A converters. This deck will be replacing a Sony Dolby S cassette deck, so I'm expecting some improvement in sound. Also Im wondering about playback. I seem to remember reading it might playback at only 20 bits with its converters, but I cannot confirm this. Anyone have any opinions on this deck? There doesnt seem to be much today in terms of removable media and 24 bit recording in a single 2 channel deck.
