You have some good guidelines to go on already - Bobbo knows his stuff. Top of the line units like HK 491, Onkyo TA 2800 Integra's are great to aspire to - but lets face it - hard to come by. All Naks are desirable, even the entry level BXs. The early one's are hard to get support for in the field - spares are an issue. The recenly produced Denons, Sonys and Yamahas will not let you down very readily and sound superb - they need not be top of the line - for instance, Yamaha KX 393,493 and 580SE; Sony TCKE400S, TCKE500S/TCKA1ES (same thing) TCKE600S/TCKE2ES(same thing, etc - they were made more recenly so will be easy to get belts and replacement heads for.
