Cassette decks were in the apex around 1985 and I would concentrate on that period. Most companies had flagship models that were overengineered and were losing money on them in order to sell more of inferior models. The difference between the best and 'second best' was often very signifficant, so 'second bests' were essentially rip-offs.I would go for a Nak. Buy the best you can afford, but even 600 can be a thrill for less than $100
