Not totally sure but your Sony mic (ECM909) might be a condenser mic looking for plug-in-power to charge up the capapitor internally (does it have its own power source and is it switched on)? Maybe your Marantz needs a good old fashioned dynamic mic to work properly....so you might need some sort of mixer to get the pieces to work properly.....Good luck
