I had a Magnum Dynalab Tuner for sale in the want adds of stereophile. This is before Audiogon existed. I have always sent my items for sale to people by UPS and put cash only on the COD tag. This means that UPS will only accept a cashiers check from the second party. This guy caught me off guard by asking for COD to be sent to a P.O. Box number. He said it had to be sent by USPS since UPS does not send to P.O. box numbers. I did not realize that the postal service will accept personal checks. Well the gentleman received my tuner and sent me a check that was no good. This guy apparantly had a record in Florida. I called the local police, but nothing ever came of this. Other people later wrote to stereophile in their letters area to warn people about this idiot.
