As expected, guy has no clue.

He can not force money back since it is not e-bay transaction.

And e-mail trail shows that he does not know what he is doing.

Be polite in responses and explain that systems hum due to various reasons, mostly due to ground issues, that, incidently, is quite commonly tied to cables. Offer to lead him through proper system connection.
Ask him to explain his system, including cables, as to send the photos, so that you can help.

Since he had bad cables, he probably still has them.

If he refuses, you have upper hand, resort to my option number one, ask him to send it to manufacturer for checkup.

He refuses, you are of the hook.
