I agree.... match, set, point.
However myself if I want the item, and I strike a deal....I buy it. For all I know the preamp I bought at the audio store on trade could have been previously owned by a serial killer or child rapist. My logic says how can that affect the use of the preamp in my application? It cannot.
This line of thought would negate Mr. JB's ego in it's entirety. I'm as guilty as the next guy in search of "the deal" however I disconnect the deal from the seller, and I buy in person only after seeing/hearing/having a good look at the item in question prior to laying out my dollars. This has worked well for me.... In fact when I sell I attempt ALWAYS to find local buyer(s) to look, hear and see prior to buying something from me. This way there can be no chance of misrepresentation or truth stretching, etc.
Best,
otari :-)
My mother-in-law, after seeing the Levinson 33H amps in my listening room: "Those are the nicest electric room heaters I've ever seen".
