Yeah, the early Paramours were severely constrained by cost (the output transformer was a $4 70-v line unit!) - cheap and cheerful. LF power band around 100Hz (3.5W).

It wasn't until the stereo version that we had our own custom iron.

With the MonAmour, the really big deal was the plate choke and output transformer, borrowed from our then-new 300B amp. Power band 15Hz at 3.5W. The 5670 regulated driver probably helps, but IMHO it's the iron that really matters.

If I was doing it today, I would at least try a 6SN7 - it's a combination I've always liked in spite of the low gain.
