I don't know for sure, but it appears to be negative impedance to me as well. Some amps are designed with some negative impedance to improve 'damping' of poorly damped speakers. It is usually a very small resistor in series with the internal feedback resistor that normally goes to ground. Then as current flows through the loudspeaker it also flows through this small resistor to ground. This modulates the feedback resistor, and gives negative impedance. A little negative impedance is OK, most of the time. Too much will lead to oscillation.
Of course, it could be just 'poor' grounding that gives the same effect.
