...but you seem to misinterpret my point. It's not that anyone needs "gurus" to point the way; rather it's that we are inundated with the quotidian. No newspaper or magazine ad (except perhaps in the New Yorker) mentions the quality stuff. Instead we are bombarded, especially in the well-stuffed Sunday papers, with full-color ads for crap.Ditto in audio.
That's precisely why I linked a search for good food to a search for good sound. Neither is easy.
You say that Terms like "better" or "worse" are irrelevant, and here I must disagree. Everyone in my circle of friends has a discriminating palate, ear, eye... and when introduced to something *better* immediately agrees and embraces it. There's no argument.
