Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

Re: Public Service Warning

Phil, why don't you lighten up on us? I have been having a relatively productive interchange with Steve Eddy, and I will do so with anyone who asks a potentially productive question.
As you have heard before: 'A little knowledge is dangerous.'
Well, you are a perfect example. You did a few years of college physics, before changing majors. In fact, you have almost exactly the same amount of physics background as most electronic engineers ever get, in general. How informed are you on the issues we are debating? I suspect about the same as most of the naysayers to new concepts in cable, etc.
Jon Risch and I are audio design engineers with decades of experience, and we ACTUALLY MEASURE AND LISTEN TO DIFFERENT AUDIO COMPONENTS. We contribute to the art, when we can, by making numerous measurements and writing about the results. Thirty years ago, we would have been giving papers at the AES about this stuff. Today, the AES is a difficult place to give a paper on non-traditional audio, so we use computer websites, 'The Asylum' or other venues, like magazine interviews, etc., instead.
Jon Risch has the patience of 'Job' as he has participated on the AR website for years. In fact, I found him there back in the late'90's and I contributed in the discussion with him. I gave up and came over here, thinking that it would be a more hospitable environment, and it is.
It's a free country, and if people go over to AR and get flamed, well at least they were warned. Oh, by the way, Phil: Wasn't it you who stated that Jon Risch couldn't be much of an engineer because he accidently mistook Ohm's Law for Joule's law while responding in real time? Later I looked it up and found that Joule's law and Ohm's law are essentially the same and that one is derived from the other by multiplying ( or dividing) [ I ] from both sides of the equation. I found your professional conduct disappointing in that instance.
