I do know that when they do welding of stainless steel here, the way they allow the weld to cool down will affect the corrosion resistance of the joint as well as it's magnetic properties..I believe it was the rate of carbon inclusion growth. (but don't quote me on that).It's a problem for our magnets when the beam tube is a long one formed by rolling sheet stainless into a cylinder, then welding along the length..the little magnetic blip along the seam makes the measuring guy here unhappy..
I assume the screws you looked at may have had rolled threads and formed head..And that rolling process work hardens the metal in a way that affects it's magnetic properties..like the weld cooldown..
