It's not the same as the difference I heard over loudspeakers, but a difference is there nonetheless."Whenever I've tried this with a good (linear) pair of headphones like the Grado HP-2 or BeyerDynamic 931, I could not even tell when the polarity of the DAC was switched from positive to inverted polarity and back. With lesser headphones, which I think distort the signal in one direction of excursion before the other, the difference does become more-obvious. I personally cannot explain why this phenomenon is **much** more noticeable with speakers. (I've actually saved a few people money in *not* buying new equipment after merely changing the absolute polarity of the speakers in their systems, where they then became satisfied with their existing equipment.)
