I am thinking about trying open baffle bass and if I understand what you are saying this "filter" sounds ideal.I am just getting started and am new to speaker building so nothing is set in stone. At this time I have the Audax PR170MO as a mid and am leaning towards getting a pair of Dayton IB385-8. The spec sheet can be viewed at http://www.partsexpress.com/pdf/295-455.pdf. However the Audax can only go down to about 250 or so. The spec sheet for it is here http://www.madisound.com/pdf/audax/pr170m0.pdf.
For the time being I'll probably use an active crossover and bi or tri-amp. Any advice you care to share would be appreciated. I don't know what type of tweeter is best suited to an open baffle approach or if it matters. I'd rather not run the audax much past 2khz.
TIA,
Russ
