I'll have to give this some thought. My initial reaction is that it is a very weak design approach. Redesigning the enclosure for a higher Q and a lower F3 seems a better option. Of course if you are stuck with the enclosure and have an amplifier which doesn't have suffient reserve and can't be replaced with a more powerful one, you have to use whatever options are left open to you.
