Steve,I believe you have taken a statement of mine to the effect that: "Gee, there seems to be some smoke in a place I've never seen it before"
and coverted into a shout in a dark theater:
"RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, THIS PLACE IS ON FIRE".
I say that because I won't allow you to paint me into a position where I am seen to be advancing a claim of some kind of "conspiracy".
However, as to specifics, the whole point of Jon's DIY approach has been raised many times over at AR in contravention to skeptic's charges. I know because I'm the one who has raised it.
I don't for one moment believe that Jon is some kind of secret plant who is on the take of the cable companies. In my opinion, Jon is driven by an incredible ego and a belief that his self-worth depends entirely on his unqualified acceptance as the final word on all things cable. And he will go to almost any length to protect that ego at the expense of truth and fairness and will resort to nasty personal attacks and personal vendettas to suppress anyone who attempts to question him.
All of that many of us, I believe, have been able to observe and see for some time. What is bazaar to me is the fact that Rod allows him to get away with it and has rubber-stamped the grossly unjust continuing ban of you.
Apparently Rod considers Jon untouchable because of the hue and cry that would come from many doctrinaire, uncritical cable-believers. Jon has a number of supporters among people who wouldn't even know how to strip insulation off a wire, but who spend thousands of dollars on commercial cables. I think it is a fair question to ask as to how many, if any, commercial power cables also view Jon as an asset because he suppresses any well-reasoned attacks to the numerous unsubtantiated claims that are disseminated by these companies. I also think it is fair, in light of the behavior of Rod as I have described above, as to what pressure, if any, has been brought to bear by these cable companies to influence Rod's decisions.
We'll never know. As I said, we can only judge based on the observed behavior. I am not willing to draw any conclusions as to the true motives and reasons behind the behavior I described above. I do however see it as unfair, counter-productive, "book-burning", and internally self-contradictory. I draw those conclusions based in large part on the fine analysis you have done of Jon's positions and the lack of substantiation and the hypocricy that surrounds your ban.
As for your suggestion of professional help, I'm afraid I've exhausted all such help that is available here in Phoenix. Any good suggestions as to the next city I might try?
