O.K. Steve: You have given a valid and persuasive arguement, however I would to take a different approach for the time being so please bear with me for a moment.
Many of us in audio consider the issue of cables to be either trivia, or our needs are met by a Belden Master Catalog. Personally, I think much of the arguements on audio cables are just the tip of the iceberg, while much more important issues are left nearly unnoticed.
Recently on this forum I suggested a possible standard for grounding, I have also posted that amplifier distortion into a reactive load could well be an issue. I have also noted the lack of discussion on acoustics, room treatment, and loudspeakers. Some of us have this "notion" that the lack of linearity in loudspeakers is a major problem, especially low level linearity. These issues do not appear to be discussed on the speaker forum as it may well be to technical for many. Propellor Head Plaza is supposed to be forum for the more technical aspects of audio.
In addition I have noted from some of the posts on the Amp Asylum that high DC offsets on line level equipment is becoming an issue. Do we adjust for this in present day equipment or do we say certain standards need to apply here?
So now that you have given the last word on the cable conspiracy, I need to ask one simple question:
Where's the beef?
The persistent but still Ever Evil Doctor SteelThis post should not be considered an insult to many of the intelligent discussions that have happened on this forum. Hopefully it will spur further discussion into other technically important issues.
