I object to ABX testing, because it doesn't work for me.
If you can't hear an improvement when you change a piece of audio equipment, you should leave it alone. But, if you and perhaps several others try something, and hear an improvement, especially under different conditions, then progress can be made.
I know, I know, how can I be sure that I REALLY heard a difference? Well, first, I DON'T want to 'improve' something, unless it really does change the sound quality, because it costs money to do so, both for me and anyone else. This keeps me in control of my listening opinions, but if I were to use ABX tests, virtually nothing would come out of it. Personally, I think the test, itself, is flawed. I have held this opinion since 1979, and nothing put forth since then has convinced me otherwise.
