Most major agencies like NASA has has information only in digital forms that must be not only preserved indefinitely but made accessible permanently. Nasa and the eu space agency embarked on a data archival standardization and that supposedly perpetuates digital data by encoding ingest and retreival protocals while leaving actual storage media up to whatever the current technology is.dee
