We are no doubt talking about frequencies of about 18 kHz. I could hear nothing on the page you gave but clearly heard what was reproduced on the Today show.I am 67 years old and can hear barely 16 kHz, but I am bothered by high frequency noises that others apparently cannot hear or can ignore. One time we had ten people of our age over and I had everyone trying to hear the squeal that was driving me crazy. None could hear it. Later one guy said that he did not have his hearing aid in, but it was in his pocket and was feeding back when he put it in his ear. It was the source of the squeal.
I suspect that the radio could reproduce 17 kHz but that she could not hear it. If she is really concerned, she might have her hearing checked. Or you could get a record or cd with frequencies in various octaves on it and play the top frequencies for her to see what the limits of her high frequency hearing is.
