1st item.Some of the best recordings been made by guys who figured out that usage of two or three good quality microphones properly placed yields the best results. My guess us that at least a goodly number of the best technicians have little interest in ITD and IID but rather have used experience and careful listening to develop their techniques.
Of course you could make a career of running after them telling them why this or that trick actually works but I suspect they'll quickly tire of you.
2nd item.
Why not try applying you knowledge to the production of good sounding cable products as that would ultimately be more productive that simply strutting around like a techno-peacock. For example I'd bet that George Cardas can shoot the shit with the best of them yet he also has contributed to our enjoyment with great sounding products. J. Risch deserves mention here as well.
3rd item.
Goody, you've learned the importance of actual lsitening.
4th item.
