Affordable home studio amp?

My old NAD integrated in my PC DAW home studio has stopped working.. not sure why, but figured it was time to get something else anyway. (if the NAD is fixable, I'll give it to my dad.)

So,
I'm looking for a quiet, neutral, and inexpensive 2 channel amp I can use to drive my B&W DM602's for home recording & mixing.

My front end is an Echo Mona soundcard, PC, Logic 5.5

I guess my first question is: Do I need a preamp at all (or should I just control volume with Logic's master out or whatever software I'm using for playback (iTunes, WaveLab, etc)?

It's a very small room, the speakers are kinda nearfield (maybe 4ft from primary listening position), so I don't need much power and prefer quality over quantity...

Suggestions?
