Plenty of professional studio monitors are specifically designed to work in the mid-field or farfield. Genelec even makes a number of such models. You'll probably (though not certainly) be disappointed in the sound of a nearfield monitor at 10' away, but if you look for models that are designed for more distant placement you should definitely find something to your liking.
