i recently heard a pair of inexpensive genelec powered speakers at a friends house. i was pretty blown away. while i wasnt able to listen critically, the speakers sounded tremendous. i couldnt believe the clarity, power and control. i'm not a pro audio guy but i was thinking about looking into going fr standard full range towers to a set of full range pro monitors. a few questions please. i see that there are pro monitors that go down fairly deep in the bass. do you have to use these nearfield? i'm about 9 to 10 ft fr where these speakers would have to be placed. also, any thoughts on using a pro monitor with a home hi fi set up? what are the pros and cons of this? i would hope to run the monitors full range in the bass and have a powered sub pick up the very bottom of the low end. thanks in advance. this is all new to me so any and all help would be appreciated.
