I prefer the Shure headphones to the Etymotics. The Etys are certainly flat and accurate but to my ear the Shure 'phones convey dynamics better and don't seem to 'run out of steam' as quickly. I have the E3c and the E5c. For what you want to do the E3c will do the job just fine but if you have the chance, audition the E5s while you're at it. Note that these can be had at MUCH less than the $499 retail on Ebay and various other places. The E5 and the E5c are identical except for packaging.
