What you think of as highs are actually midrange. No Peavey 15 (nor many other brands)is capable of reproducing high (3kHz to 12kHz)frequencies, and that is where all of the harmonics that you're hearing when playing the bass acoustically are located. As an experiment try running your head through a high quality full range PA speaker to hear the 2 octaves of harmonics that you're not hearing now.
