Hi,
I'm looking to get the best quality recording I can on the cheap, for a grand piano/chamber music playing classical music. It seems that using a computer with external A/D 24/96kHz is the best option, and I've been looking at the m-audio "audiophile USB" external sound card. For under 200$ (plus computer), it allows me to put the noisy computer in a different room, and all the critical work (preamplification and digitizing) is done locally.
How about this solution? What do the pro's do these days? There are behringer units that also do 24/96, but you can't tell if one is any better sounding than another.
