: Running the main outs through the outboard component and then on to it's destination does the same thing. The inserts are just adding an extra gain stage as a buffer.
The difference is, if you insert an EQ or whatever, on the main outs, you can AFL that output and hear the changes caused by the effect device.
Simply running effects after the outs doesn't allow this, though one could 'Y' and return on a channel just for monitoring...Good health, Weogo
