There is no direct correlation between balanced & unbalanced and +4 & -10. Not knowing your mixer, I can't be sure but I'd guess the level at the insert point might be closer to -10. There can be a lot of difference in internal gain structures, between different manufacturers and models.I'd recommend using balanced lines, when practical, between pieces of gear.
