Second that. I think they would make great monitors especially if you can get them a few feet away from the wall. Even if not, I think I could make a decent mix on them. As for the amps, a bryston would be great but a used parasound would be great for not too much $ , an nad or adcom would certianly do ok as well if your on a budget. If you do have a grand for an amp you might consider selling the speakers and looking at some genelecs for $1300.
Do consider that you will need something to change your monitor volume, a little mixer or preamp. You dont want to do this digitally using your sound card. I might suggest the $20 passive pre someone on this site designed.
