That has always been my take as well. I always looked at them as "British Peavey".
Saw one of these in Nashville and decided to check it out. Apparently they hired a new design engineer. The mic pre's are responsive...VERY responsive and surprisingly clean. The EQ has had a boost as well. Overall, it's noise floor is as low as any Mackie and the Soundcraft Spirit series. Not as clean as say an Allen & Heath GL series, but comparable to a Ramsa WR series. And it has a good bit more headroom than previous StudioMasters. To say the least, I was taken way off-guard by this.
Just wondering if anyone here has used one of these new series. I have contacted one guy who just does personal recordings. He sold his Mackie after he got one of these.
Wondering if anyone had any horror stories on this series, because I couldn't find anything wrong with it. And having repaired anough StudioMasters in teh past, I was Sir Skeptical too. The salesmen thought I was nuts for as long as I was taking LOL!.
