I have used the mackie for a long time and it works.
but the sound of the board is funky.
bass is to undamped and flobby , so the sound is dull ,hard and lax toneful bass.
the mic pre especially have these problems more so then the rest of the board.
At the end of mixing the bass regions sound right but take up to much enrgey and the mix ends up to soft .
The mids are foggy, glaring and hard with fair resolution not as toneful as i like.
the highs are buzzzy not sweet or right.I have a adat mackie set up ,to make descent mixs it takes three times longer than other set ups just to get descent tone and even that not to great. You can't make up for something thats not there. BUT WHAT DO EXPECT FOR THE MONEY .
PRO TOOLS WITH A GOOD D/A ,GOOD MIKE,AND A GREAT MICPRE MAKES FOR A BETTER BUDGET HOME STUDIO.
