No...I run my Mixer no higher than 0 and leave the Amp cranked to Max...(which is actually non-attenuated) The Amp gain controls are level attenuators and not "boosters". Full Up would be unity to the amps' normal input sensitivity.
Adjust the gain stucture for minimum noise floor.
I have my system calibrated where my Amps have only 3dB headroom at +4.
3dB headroom is 50% power.
The input sensitivity of your amplifiers may require setting of the gain controls. I calibrate with the monitor out POT.
