Recommendations...mix to reel to reel, or stay digital?

152.163.207.47

Hi,

We were thinking about getting some sort of a mastering deck, instead of using our computer.

We have two adats and a Spirit digital board. We were thinking about mixing down to a reel to reel at 15 or 30ips to add some analog-ness to our sound.

We're a rock band, so analog tape compression can add some nice touches to our sound. This won't be any sort of audiophile recording, so the slight tape noise is not an issue.

Can anyone recommend a good reel to reel for that purpose? Studer/Revox? Others? (preferably one that's not thousands of dollars) Or should we stick with digital and upgrade our sound card and inputs?

Thanks,

Phil
