I'm with you on that. Still for $3000 you could buy a pretty nice used larger format system such as JBL or Altec (pre 1997, not the recent Sparkomatic, Chinese outsourced stuff) that would blow away the Mackies. In addition if you talk to any tech's they will tell you the electronic stuff is a bitch to work on and pretty much disposable. In addition the word is the company is in real bad financial condition and this could be a consideration when looking at buying parts in the future. If size was a real issue and it had to be new I would look for something with Eminence cast frame woofers and soemthing with a larger horn than the Mackie, it will sound better. For the amps, The stuff by QSC is a better buy, better quality than the Mackie gear.
