My first talk with them was the virtues of the new Mackie Onyx series.
Since this fits into their price range. A 1640 with a firewire card is about their max bucks. Then they can slave their old 1640 for a drum mixer to get the channels they want. I even offered to clean the 1640 for free.

True, it's not a digital console, but it has a digital backend. I like firewire out and Perkins EQ.

Totally digital is a waste of breath with much of these older guys. Fears of console lock-ups, and not seeing the fader positions from across the room turns a few guys off. I'm never going to argue with a customer. I'll try to show them the light.

It'll get much beter once my big rig goes digital and I take them on site. That usually closes a deal.
But hey, I'm an old soundguy, I still like the big analog desks ...
But I'm also an IT guy by day, I do fine in the digital realm.
