If you are interested in trying something really unique, power your higher frequencies with a Peavey tubed guitar amp like the Stereo 50 or 60. These were amps utilizing EL34 tubes. These amps outperformed Crown, Crest, QLC, Yamaha, Carver and any other "pro" amp in the upper frequencies and mid-ranges. The Stereo 100 used KT88 tubes and did not sound as good to me.Obviously with a tubed amp, it will not take physical abuse as much as it's SS counterparts.
