Greg....thanks. No one specifically said they sucked, but i did come across a few reviews saying they weren't impressed and a few people who snickered when i mentioned 'Bogen'. Yeah , i am interested in tube/transformer coloration. I like transparent mic pre's too, but i've got those. I just can't see paying 2K for 1 channel of a REAL tube mic pre (which like you said, i've heard most contemporary ones don't color your sound like the old ones, on purpose-that would really irritate me, if i paid 2k+ for it!). This is mostly for vintage colored sound...its perhaps bandwidth challenged, but its ALIVE!
