Hello folks, i was hoping some in the 'know' about vintage mixers from the 1960's could help shed some light on 2 older Bogen Tube Mixers i have. They are a Bogen MXM-A and LOM, both are 5-6 channel mixers form early to mid 60's? If anyone knows the dates these were made i'd like to know. Were they (Bogen) like the 'Peavey' of the 50's-60's? I have heard these things suck as far as sound quality, even though they are all tube. I would like to modify them to sound as good as they can, for a Bogen. Can anyone share their experience with these as to WHAT components are inferior? I am assuming the input TX's are cheapo's , poor caps, etc... Perhaps the preamp ckt design is poor? I recently got them and haven't used them yet, i just assuming they will sound inferior due to what i've read. I am looking to convert it to recording/broadcast specs as much as possible.....
thanks for anyones time and experience!
